(Davenport – IA) Alternating Currents is proud to announce its second wave of music acts, comedians, film screenings, and artists with 23 new additions.

Eight national and regional bands have been added including Cory Chisel, Adriel Denae, Pet Symmetry, Mutts, The Dawn, Alyx Rush, The Boogers, and Legend.   Six new films are scheduled to screen courtesy of Brink Vision and Oscilloscope.  New films include 45RPM, Don’t Look in the Basement, Fuzz: the Sound the Revolutionized the World, Beautiful Losers, Catch Me Daddy, and La Cuidad.

Nine new comedians are coming from Milwaukee, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Des Moines. Festival patrons are sure catch laughs from Elijah Holbrook, AJ Grill, Carly Malison, Mitch Banks, Spencer Loucks, Dan Umthun, Carter Deems, Mike Berg and Perry Hardee.

In addition to the “OMG BeckyFest Vintage & Handmade Show” and the Quad City Arts Chalk Art Festival, local artist Shy Brewer has been added to the bill. Brewer has been featured at various performances throughout the Quad Cities doing live paintings.

Ticketed venues include the Adler Theatre, Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, Daytrotter and the Redstone Room at River Music Experience. All the other venues/shows are FREE.  Free venues include the Figge Art Museum, The Current  Iowa Hotel, Me & Billy, Great River Brewery, Mac’s Tavern, Carriage Haus, Kilkenny’s Pub, RME Courtyard and Barrel House.  A full schedule will be released soon detailing when and where each event will take place.  

On August 25 and 26, a dozen venues across downtown Davenport will host a wide variety of live music, film screenings, comedians, and visual artists during the Alternating Currents festival. Patrons can expect 50+ acts, screenings, and art events; people are encouraged to travel from venue to venue and explore all downtown has to offer.  Previously announced music acts include Ben Folds, Julien Baker, The Smoking Popes, Liz Cooper & the Stampede, Calliope Musicals, and Desert Noises.  Film screenings also include Impulse and The Colossus of Destiny: a Melvins Tale.
