Daz Cameron powers Bandits to longest win streak of the season

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Quad Cities River Bandits shut out the Beloit Snappers, 5-0, Tuesday night to complete a sweep of the Snappers and win their eighth straight game; the longest win streak of 2017 for Quad Cities. Daz Cameron had a season-high four hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBI to lead the offense. Cristian Javier posted five scoreless innings on the mound for the Bandits to earn his first Midwest League win.

Cameron got the Bandits (30-15, 67-46) on the board with a three-run blast in the first inning, his thirteenth homer of the season. The Bandits hit at least one home run in all four games against Beloit (24-20, 56-57) and hit six overall homers during the sweep. Josh Rojas tacked on another run with a single to plate Cameron in the third and then Cameron plated his fourth RBI of the night with an RBI-single in the fifth to bring around Abraham Toro-Hernandez who doubled.

That was plenty of offense for Javier (1-0), who allowed just two hits over five hitless innings. Gabriel Valdez was perfect through three innings of relief and Robert Corniel stranded a pair in the ninth to preserve the shutout. Seth Martinez (4-6) allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings for Beloit to suffer the loss.

The Bandits have an off day Wednesday before opening a four-game set in Cedar Rapids, Iowa against the Kernels on Thursday. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. CT with Carlos Sanabria (4-3, 4.30) on the hill for Quad Cities against Tyler Watson (0-1, 6.75) for the Kernels.
