On verge of playoff berth, Bandits held without a hit by Snappers

BELOIT, Wisc. -- The Quad Cities River Bandits were no-hit by the Beloit Snappers in a 3-0 loss Wednesday night at Pohlman Field. Zack Erwin went six innings and Joe Camacho hurled three in the combined no-no for Beloit. Ronel Blanco allowed just one unearned run over 4.2 innings of work but suffered the loss. Quad Cities mustered just two walks. The River Bandits can still clinch a playoff berth with a win in the series finale Thursday.
The no-hitter is the eighth against the Bandits (38-21, 75-52) in franchise history and first since May 17, 2014. It's the second no-hitter in the Midwest League this season. Beloit (28-30, 60-66) got on the board after a leadoff error in the first inning then a single by Josh Vidales to plate the unearned run. Three straight hits in the sixth added a pair of insurance runs for the Snappers.
Erwin (6-4) got the win, allowing just one walk while striking out four over his six hitless innings. Blanco (5-4) allowed one unearned run on two hits and five walks to suffer the loss while Camacho earned his first save of the season.
The Bandits will have another chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win Thursday in the finale at Pohlman Field. Cesar Rosado (3-1, 4.86) gets the nod for the Bandits against Seth Martinez (4-8, 3.37) for the Snappers. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. CDT and you can hear all the action live with Jake Levy on 1170 AM K-BOB, riverbandits.com and the TuneIn app.
