Bandits match all-time Quad Cities record for runs in a Midwest League season with 7-3 win

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Quad Cities River Bandits snapped a six-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Monday's regular season finale in front of 4,551 fans at Modern Woodmen Park. The seven runs scored brought the season total to 743, which matches an all-time Quad Cities record in a Midwest League season from 1999 when the Bandits were affiliated with the Twins.

The Bandits (42-28, 79-59) got a pair of two-run home runs in the win. Chas McCormick went 3-for-4 and finished a triple shy of the cycle. His seventh-inning homer, his second of the season, brought home the history-making runs. JJ Matijevic hit his first homer at the Midwest League level in the fifth inning to give the Bandits the lead, capping a four-run frame. Ronel Blanco (6-4) got the win for three innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits. Drake Owenby (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in three innings.

The game featured a pair of 2014 River Bandits facing off in the start, with Michael Feliz rehabbing for Quad Cities. Feliz pitched a flawless first inning, striking out a pair. Wisconsin (33-37, 59-79) sent Adrian Houser, who was part of the Carlos Gomez trade, to the hill to continue his return from Tommy John surgery. Houser pitched three scoreless innings, retiring nine of the ten batters he faced.

The Bandits open the first round of the playoffs Wednesday night in Peoria, Illinois with game one of the best-of-three series with the Chiefs at Dozer Park. Starting pitchers have not yet been announced. The game will be available live with Jake Levy on 1170 AM K-BOB, riverbandits.com and the TuneIn app.
