LeCLAIRE, IOWA (June 3, 2024) — On June 29 and 30, 2024, the Buffalo Bill Museum of LeClaire is hosting Buffalo Bill’s Best of The Wild West. This immersive Living History weekend event takes place at Cody Elementary School in LeClaire. As a child, William Cody could have played or hunted squirrels on this property.

The grounds open at 10:30AM each day. Refreshments will be available and visitors can listen to music, tour the canvas boomtown camp, see historic demonstrations, play 1880’s kid games, and meet the legends of the West.

At 12:30PM each day, the one-hour and twenty-minute live extravaganza Best of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West will take place in a 150 ft x 300 ft arena. The show is professionally scripted and choreographed — with legends of the Wild West, Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, trick riders, sharp-shooters, a Gatling gun, side-saddle riders, a stagecoach, mounted bandits and cavalry — performing scenes right out of the original Wild West.

Rita Farro, the Director of the Buffalo Bill Museum says, “I saw this group perform in Wisconsin last year and I knew we should bring it to LeClaire. Pleasant Valley Schools offered to host, and the Tourism Board decided to celebrate the 190th Birthday for the City of LeClaire. The Riverboat Twilight is providing shuttle buses from the Mississippi levee parking lot up to the Cody School location. (2100 Territorial Road). Everybody in town is pulling together to make this event happen — and we are excited to offer this level of a living history experience.”
