SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (March 27, 2023) — Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE) presents this year’s ENGage Engineering Virtual Poster Session Contest! Junior and Senior Engineering Students are invited to showcase their student-faculty research to a panel of Engineering Professionals (and potential future employers) for feedback and a chance to win a cash prize. There are five presentation categories, including Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, and Structural, allowing for students within each discipline to connect with reviewers possessing expertise and experience in that field. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three presenters in the following increments:
- $500 — First Place
- $300 — Second Place
- $100 — Third Place
"ISPE is committed to fostering young engineering talent through networking and professional development opportunities designed to establish a foundation for success for the next generation of engineers," stated Kim Robinson, CAE, Executive Director of ISPE. "We are proud to offer financial assistance to students through various programs to help offset some of the costs of earning a college degree while also helping Illinois maintain a long-term pipeline of engineering talent."
The contest is open to junior and senior students who are currently enrolled in an Illinois-based undergraduate engineering program and have completed research projects. Students can simply create a virtual poster and presentation using their existing data. Posters will be judged on the following criteria:
- Overall Appearance;
- Logical Organization and Flow;
- Meaningful Graphics;
- Text Communication of Content and Data;
- Clarity of Purpose, Goals, Methodology, and Results;
- Discussions, Conclusions, and Recommendations; and
- Technical Accomplishments and Design Lessons Learned.

Registration deadline is 11:59PM on April 13, 2023, and project-submission deadline is 11:59PM on April 15, 2023.
