Four delegates from Carlow County, Ireland will visit Davenport March 14-20 to learn from city leaders and citizens as well as sharing best practices and resources from their communities. The Carlow delegation include:

Dan McInerney - the Director of Services for County Carlow Michael Doran - an elected official on their County Council Eileen Brophy - Director of the Delta Center Sensory Garden, President of Carlow Rotary

Michael Kelly -member of the Board of Governors of Carlow College St. Patrick’s.

The Carlow delegation will be in Davenport to learn about and share international best practices for a series of city and community services. Planned activities include daily interactions with City staff and elected leaders with the City of Davenport, including: 1) Interest in talent exchange and exploring international best practice at Public Works and potential networking for Police, Fire and Emergency Response resources 2) Ongoing relationship with Davenport Parks and Recreation collaborating on education programming and cultural activities 3) Exploring riverfront, downtown and neighborhood development practices and incentives

The trip is part of the Davenport Sister Cities collaboration, creating diplomatic ties between Davenport and communities around the world, including Ilheus Brazil, Langfang China, Kaiserslautern Germany, Carlow County Ireland, and Colon Mexico. Davenport Sister Cities is an independent 501C3 organization partnering closely with the City of Davenport to advance the public good through cultural awareness, exposure and exchange.
