Kaveh Mostafavi, Founder and CEO of Ecocare Supply and The Compost Ninja

NORTH LIBERTY, IOWA (May 21, 2019) — The Corridor Business Journal has named Kaveh Mostafavi, founder and CEO of Ecocare Supply and The Compost Ninja, as its 2019 TLC Associates Entrepreneur of the Year.

The TLC Associates Entrepreneur of the Year award is given to an individual who has demonstrated strong entrepreneurial leadership and success within the Corridor. Past recipients include Joe Ahmann of Ahmann Companies, Dawn Ainger of Genova Technologies, Gerald Beranek of Beratek Industries, Steve Shriver of Eco Lips, and, most recently, restauranteur Matt Swift, among others.

Mr Mostafavi is a graduate of the University of Iowa and Drake Law School. During his time in practice, Mr Mostafavi and his brother franchised a Panchero’s Mexican Grill in Tempe, Arizona. Having witnessed significant product and food waste at Panchero’s, he developed an idea for a sustainable supply and waste-diversion company. In September of 2014, Mr Mostafavi returned to Iowa to start Ecocare and The Compost Ninja.

From durable, compostable food-ware to more effective and safer cleaners, Ecocare is a single source for traditional and sustainable janitorial, sanitary food service, and office products.

In four years, the company has expanded to 15 full and part-time employees and four locations in Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Des Moines, and the Quad Cities. Ecocare’s 450+ accounts include small and large businesses that place an emphasis on sustainability and waste diversion.

Mr Mostafavi will be recognized at the CBJ’s Fastest Growing Companies banquet, June 5 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cedar Rapids. He will share his story upon receiving the award.
