NORTH LIBERTY, IOWA (April 18, 2019) — The Corridor Business Journal announces its newest event, Technology Untangled, which will breakdown technology advancements of the 21st century and how they benefit business.

The event will be held May 16, 11:30AM-1:15PM, at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center.

Local industry experts will deliver brief presentations on their experience with, and the future of, five innovative technologies. Topics include:

The Future of Wireless Connectivity: 5G and IoT 5G will allow virtually anything — some experts say up to a trillion devices in the next decade — to connect to cellular networks, enabling a bigger and better Internet of Things (IoT). Bill Borkowicz of US Cellular will talk about the path to realizing this technology and how it will benefit business.

Blockchain: Preparing for Disruption Bennett Moore of RSM US LLP will walk through what blockchain is, how it works, and what its impact is to Corridor companies. Learn about the different use-cases for blockchain technology, including food, finance, and real-estate.

Automated Vehicle Testing Technology: Coming Soon to the Corridor Autonomous vehicles are still decades away from ubiquity, but the technologies that they are made up of are in testing now. Daniel McGehee will share his insights as director of the National Advanced Driving Simulator Laboratories.

Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Matthew Krenz and Garret Meierbachtol, both of Shive-Hattery, will examine what these different realities are, their application in design-process, and what is coming in the future with mixed-reality by way of the Microsoft Hololens 2.

Real Technology Influencing the Education Market The education and related ed-tech markets are making significant advances in technology using machine-learning and AI to better prepare students for college and the workforce. Randy Wilhelm, vice-president of learning-resources at ACT Inc, will address why this transformation is essential and highlight technologies now being created inside the company.

Tickets are $40 per person and $400 per table of 10. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to register, visit www.corridorbusiness.com/events/ or call Ashley Levitt at (319) 665-6397, ext. 311. Registration ends May 9.
