MUSCATINE, IOWA (December 4, 2020) — The holidays are fast approaching, and even though we can’t celebrate with big events such as Sunday with Santa or Kids Pajama Party, we can still share some holiday cheer. The historic Musser-McColm mansion is decorated and adorned for Christmas, something that our guests look forward to every year.

This year, in lieu of a big event, we are offering families the opportunity to take their family photos in the library of the historic mansion, with the fully-decorated front parlor as a beautiful backdrop. This rare opportunity is not open to professional photographers, but for ten days in December, families can come and enjoy the space for photos. While here, families can pick up a holiday Take and Make bag with several projects and a DIY Noon Year’s Eve party in a bag. During the photo appointment, families can also enjoy holiday music from the Regina Orchestral Music box built in 1889. Before leaving, make sure to view the exhibition Till Death: Wedding and Mourning Traditions, on display in the Stanley Gallery thru January 12, 2021.

Appointments are necessary in order to minimize the number of families in the facility. Reservations can be made on the top of the hour and on the half hour during our open hours on the days listed below. Admission is free, and group size is limited to 6 people. Masks are required in the building but not sitting for photos. Please remember to bring your own camera. To make a reservation, please call us at 563-263-8282. Hurry — spots will fill up fast!

Dates to reserve times:

·         December 8-11 and December 15-18: 10AM-3:30PM

·         December 12: 13: 1-3:30PM

Look for information coming soon about our Virtual Noon Year’s Eve Event happening on December 31 and how you can participate! A DIY Noon Year’s Eve party in a bag will be available to pick up starting December 8.
