DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 22, 2019) — As the moving boxes are beginning to disappear, Russell Construction and Development is proud to celebrate its official date of incorporation 36 years ago in our new Corporate Headquarters at 4700 East 53rd Street in Davenport.
Still located in the Birchwood Fields Office Park, 375 feet from our previous headquarters, the new Russell HQ 2.0 includes an open-office concept, collaborative work spaces, exposed ceilings, and extensive day-lighting yielded from curtain wall windows. The 22,500 sf office also includes additional conference rooms, chat rooms, technology upgrades, a Virtual Design and Construction area, and both internal and external entertaining spaces.
This new corporate office space is a result of Lee Enterprises, the parent company of the Quad City Times, relocating into Russell’s former headquarters at 4600 East 53rd Street in Davenport. We are excited to have Lee Enterprises join the Birchwood Fields Office Park.
What makes this story truly unique, is that Russell made it a priority to engage their employees in the design, construction and moving process of the new HQ 2.0 facility, through:
- Layout and Functionality of the New Space: Employees were able to provide feedback on the floorplan of the new space. Suggestions that were incorporated include a retractable insulated garage door in the central gathering space of the office to allow for access to an outside patio.
- Desk and Chairs: Employees voted and selected the type of chair and height adjustable desks for all stations — allowing for the option to either stand or sit at their desk throughout the day.
- Milestone Celebrations: This is where Russell truly stands out as a Quad Cities company. Our goal is to have fun everyday while we work. Moving buildings was no exception!

- Groundbreaking: In October 2018, Russell broke ground on this project by dropping a 16-foot shovel from 80 feet in the air. Talk about impressive! Check out the video here! This exact shovel also broke ground on our original corporate headquarters back in 2004.

- Jobsite Tours: Russell employees were able to frequently walk the jobsite and witness the progress of their new headquarters, while it was being built!

A grand opening celebration/ribbon-cutting is planned for October 2019.
