BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (October 14, 2025) — The Circle of Healing, a group dedicated to uplifting African-American individuals and communities, is proud to announce Her Voice Media as the recipient of its 2025 $6,500 grant. This award recognizes organizations making a profound impact on the well-being, resilience, and empowerment of marginalized communities, and Her Voice Media exemplifies this mission through its transformative work.

Her Voice Media began as Love Girls Magazine, a youth-led publication founded by Jasmine Babers-Gunn when she was fifteen. What started as a safe space for girls to share their stories, connect with peers, and lift one another up has grown over fifteen years into a multimedia platform that empowers women and girls through media, mentorship, and leadership.

Today, as Her Voice Media, the organization serves women and girls across the country. It publishes the Quad Cities and Memphis editions of Love Girls Magazine, produces the award-winning Love Girls Podcast (ranked third for young women by Feedcast), hosts the annual Girls on Fire storytelling and leadership conference and Women on Fire, and celebrates changemakers through the Love Awards.

Through mentoring, hands-on media training, and career-changing opportunities, Her Voice Media equips women and girls with practical skills, confidence, and real leadership experience so they can thrive in school, in their careers, and in life.

“The Circle of Healing is honored to support Her Voice Media and its mission to uplift, empower, and amplify the voices of young women,” said Kristen Roberts, Co-Founder of the Circle of Healing. “Their work embodies the values we hold dear — creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and cultivating the next generation of leaders. By investing in this organization, we are investing in a future where every girl feels seen, valued, and empowered to lead.”

This grant will enable Her Voice Media to expand and enhance its fellowship program, which offers unique experiences for girls who are interested in what it looks like to be a storyteller through writing, journalism, photography, and other related fields. The grant will help expand the program to more girls and provide additional experiences, equipment, materials, and other supports to the program.

"We are so grateful for this amazing support that will help us be the premier avenue for women and girls to tell their stories, and for other women and girls to see themselves in the stories we share,” said Jasmine Babers-Guy, Founder of Her Voice Media and Love Girls Magazine.

The Circle of Healing grant will be presented to Her Voice Media during a celebration on October 18, 3PM, at Soul Ties Restaurant, owned by Circle of Healing member Lynsi Baker and located at 118 Fourth Street, Davenport, Iowa.

Those interested in attending the event should RSVP to: givingcircleofhealing@gmail.com. Both groups look forward to the continued partnership in promoting positive change and advancing the well-being of African-American communities.
