DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 9, 2019) — The Quad Cities River Bandits run under the Treasure Hunters name finished with a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Clinton LumberKings on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Peyton Burdick went 3-5 with a double, a home-run, and two runs batted in to guide Clinton to their only win in the series.

Burdick single-handedly gave Clinton (27-10, 60-56) an early 2-0 advantage. In the top of the first inning, he followed a double by Davis Bradshaw with one of his own to drive in the first run of the night and hand his team a 1-0 lead. With the score the same in the third inning, he blasted a solo home-run off of the scoreboard above the berm in right-field to double the margin. The home run was his fifth of the season and traveled 434 feet from home-plate.

The LumberKings extended their advantage to 3-0 in the top of the fourth. Bubba Hollins walked to open the inning and then scored on an RBI double down the right-field line by Samuel Castro. Ruppenthal worked a total of 5.0 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. He walked four times and struck out four in the outing.

The Treasure Hunters (26-21, 69-44) could not solve Clinton starter Jake Walters. The right-hander worked 5.0 scoreless innings and scattered three hits while punching out five. Quad Cities was able to get to reliever Manuel Rodriguez in his first inning out of the pen. Trey Dawson finished off a run of three consecutive hits with an RBI single through the right side to put the Treasure Hunters on the board and cut the deficit to 3-1.

Each team pushed one run across in the seventh inning to keep a two-run gap. JD Osborne doubled home Bradshaw in the top of the frame. Alex McKenna drove in Wilyer Abreu with a double of his own to close the gap to 4-2 in the Quad Cities half of the frame. The Treasure Hunters put the tying run at the plate in each of the last two innings, but could not come up with a big hit down the stretch.

Dawson paced the Treasure Hunters with three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. McKenna reached base three times with a single and two bases on balls. Garrett Gayle worked the final 2.0 innings on the mound for Quad Cities and struck out three without allowing a baserunner.

The River Bandits will return to action on Saturday night in Appleton, Wisconsin. First pitch for game one of a three-game series against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers is slated for 6:35PM. RHP Abdiel Saldana (1-1, 0.63) will toe the slab for the River Bandits in a meeting with Wisconsin RHP Reese Olson (4-6, 4.85).
