DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 4, 2026) — At approximately 8:17PM on August 3, the Davenport Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Harrison Street.

The first fire units arrived at 8:20PM. Firefighters entered the business through the front door and encountered light smoke inside the commercial space. As crews searched the building, they discovered an apartment attached to the rear of the structure. Further investigation determined the fire was in the rear apartment.

Firefighters entered the apartment, extinguished the fire, and searched for victims. Additional crews searched the three apartments above the commercial building.

Firefighters met with the residents, who confirmed that everyone was accounted for. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The Davenport Fire Department was assisted on scene by Medic EMS of Scott County, which stood by during the incident. MidAmerican Energy also responded to assist with utilities.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Fire Marshal's Office at 563-326-7906.
