DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 2, 2026) — On Monday, June 1, at approximately 6:52PM, the Davenport Fire Department responded to the 3300 block of Covington Drive for a reported structure fire.

The first fire units arrived on scene at 6:58PM and found a small, two-story home with smoke coming from the front door. Fire crews entered the home and found a fire in the kitchen area that was quickly extinguished. Three occupants of the home were outside when the fire department arrived but crews searched the residence, finding and removing a family dog. Resuscitation efforts were started on the family pet but were unsuccessful. Fire crews used fans to remove the smoke from the residence and remained on scene for about ninety minutes to confirm complete extinguishment and investigate to determine the cause of the fire.

The Davenport Fire Department was assisted by Mid-American Energy.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Fire Marshal’s office at 563-326-7906.
