CLIVE, Iowa – A Davenport man said he was full of emotion when he scratched off a lottery ticket last week and won a big prize.

Danny Miller claimed the fifth of nine prizes of $10,000 available in the Iowa Lottery’s “Little Black Game Book” scratch game.

The 33-year-old said he stopped Friday for fuel at Expresslane, 321 N. Division St. in Davenport and decided to buy a scratch ticket, too. He said he scratched of his ticket and knew he won something.

“I looked at it at first and I’m like, ‘Hold on, I won $10; No wait, that might be $100. No, that’s $10,000 – Wow!’” Miller told lottery employees the same day as he claimed his prize at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Then Miller said he got a little overwhelmed and had to sit down.

“It was almost too good to be true. It actually kind of had me shaking; it rattled my nerves. I’m like, ‘Am I seeing this right?’” he said. “I double-checked it, triple-checked it, and I’m like, ‘OK. This is right!’”

Miller, who works as a cook at a Davenport bar, said he plans to use a portion of his lottery winnings to pay bills and save the rest.

Little Black Game Book is a $20 scratch game. More details about how to play this game, and number of prizes still up for grabs in it can be found on the Iowa Lottery’s website, www.ialottery.com.
