The first is the State of the City.  It is scheduled for Monday, February 5 at the Rhythm City Casino.  Mayor Klipsch will speak about economic development accomplishments, the city's improved financial footing, partnerships and the future of the riverfront at this annual event.

The event, hosted by the Davenport Rotary Club and Quad-Cities Chamber of Commerce, is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring a buffet lunch that includes a vegetarian option. Cost is $25 per person. Doors open at 11 a.m.  Citizens interested in attending should register by going to http://member.quadcitieschamber.com/…/davenport-state-of-th…. Online registration ends Jan. 31.  I will have more logistics for the media regarding this event as the date nears.

Additionally, Mayor Klipsch has released the date of the annual Mayor’s Job Fair.  Mayor Frank Klipsch’s Youth Job Fair will be March 1 at the JB Young Opportunity Center, 1702 Main St., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The City of Davenport, IowaWorks and local businesses are teaming up to provide a one-stop opportunity for teens to apply for jobs with Quad-City employers.  Teens who attend the fair should dress appropriately, be prepared to fill out applications and make a great first impression.  As you know,  this event is always well attended by youth throughout the community.
