DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 5, 2020) — The Davenport Public Library will reopen all three locations beginning Monday, June 8. Eastern and Fairmount will resume normal hours and Main will be open Monday-Tuesday, 9AM-8PM, and Wednesday-Saturday, 9AM-5:30PM. All locations will be offering limited services at this time. The Richardson Sloane Special Collections Center will remain closed to the public. We will send out further details once we are receiving visitors.
What does limited services mean? Following the current state law, the Board of Trustees has limited total patron numbers in the building at a time to 20 to maintain social-distancing. In some cases, patrons may have to wait in line before granted admission. Once inside the Library, patrons will be greeted by a friendly face at our welcome desk. Our welcome desk attendant will go over some procedures with the patron and then help them find what they are looking for efficiently.
Patrons visiting the Library to browse or utilize our copy machine, scanner, or fax machine will be limited to 15 minutes in the Library. To limit contact, patrons are encouraged to check out items at self-checkout stations and pay fines online by using our computers. If a new Library card is needed, patrons will also be asked to apply online in the Library and a member of the staff will issue the new card immediately. Patrons are still able and encouraged to pick up holds through our contactless Curbside Delivery service and through our window at Fairmount.
Public computers will be available on a limited basis and must be reserved a day in advance by calling 563-326-7832. Each computer session is for an hour period and is limited to one reservation per day.
The Davenport Public Library looks forward to providing more services and is very thankful for the patience and support we have received during these uncertain times.
