ALBIA, IOWA (October 16, 2019) — Today the Environmental Protection Agency proposed the "fix" promised to biofuel and agriculture producers by President Trump to make up for the 1.3 billion gallons lost thanks to waivers handed out for Big Oil and Gas profits. Focus on Rural America Chair, Patty Judge, who has served Iowa as Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Agriculture, released the following statement: “President Trump has once again failed rural Iowa and broken his promise. It is disgraceful he would make nice with rural producers and offer our elected officials a deal in public, only to stab us in the back again behind closed doors. We cannot trust President Trump, who clearly thinks he can steamroll rural voters,” said Patty Judge. “Trump and his EPA destroyed demand for more than 1.3. billion gallons of biofuels and this deal only replaces half of that. Many of our Democrat candidates have vowed to end Trump's heartless Big Oil giveaways and put rural communities first. We have 12 candidates heading to the debate stage tonight, and more still in the race. Many of them have offered rural plans to help communities across the Heartland. These leaders have visions for rural America and a history of making good on their promises. I'm looking forward to picking one of them in February to replace Trump."
