DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 30, 2020) — We know that strong readers go on to become lifelong learners, but almost 40% of today's children start kindergarten without the skills needed for success. The best way to prepare children for school and beyond? Introduce them to books as soon as possible.

Next year, the Davenport Public Library will launch 1000 Books Before Kindergarten a nationwide program that encourages parents to take an active role in their child’s literacy development and you can help! Your donation will be used to launch the program and provide families with meaningful rewards for signing up and achieving major milestones along the way.

Make a year-end gift on Giving Tuesday (December 1) and help a child discover the love of reading by following this link: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/5epcoi
