Goodwill®, Younkers Partner to “Donate Stuff-Create Jobs”

Community Donations Support Employment Assistance Services

September 8th, 2017—Refresh your closet and support a great cause through the fall Younkers Goodwill Sale.  Goodwill and Younkers are once again teaming up for this annual sale and donation drive event that kicks off on Wednesday, September 13th.

Throughout the promotion, shoppers can bring donations for Goodwill directly to participating Younkers stores and turn those donations into savings on a new fall wardrobe.  They can get a coupon for up to 30% off Younkers merchandise for each item donated.

There are seven participating Younkers locations throughout the Goodwill of the Heartland service area. They include the two Younkers stores in Cedar Rapids and the stores in Coralville, Muscatine, Moline, Davenport and Burlington.

Goodwill of the Heartland and Younkers will mark the start of this year’s fall sale with a “Stuff the Truck” event on Wednesday, September 13th, at the Lindale Mall Younkers in Cedar Rapids. Shoppers will have the chance to fill a Goodwill truck with their donations.

Goodwill’s Vice President of Marketing, Mindy Kayser said, “The Younkers Goodwill Sale is one of our largest community donation drives.  We really count on the goods that are collected through this event and we hope that people will continue to support the effort and the Goodwill mission.  Just one bag of clothes can create one hour of on-the-job training for someone who needs employment assistance.”

Goodwill is hopeful that the Younkers Sale can help bring in some much needed items to keep its retail stores stocked.  Last fall, the Younkers Goodwill Sale generated nearly 26,000 pounds of donations for Goodwill of the Heartland.

Goodwill relies on the revenue from the sale of donated goods to fund job training programs and other community-based services to help people secure employment and live more independently.  This year’s fall Younkers Goodwill Sale runs through Saturday, September 30th.
