Burlington/Wever, December 12, 2017 – Goodwill of the Heartland is the recipient of a generous office furniture donation from Orascom Construction and Iowa Fertilizer Company. The nonprofit organization recently received more than 100,000 pounds of donated items including office chairs, desks, tables, filing cabinets, bookcases and cubicles.

“Iowa Fertilizer Company and Orascom E&C USA are committed to investing in our Iowa community and partnering with organizations such as Goodwill of the Heartland who are working every day to support those in need,” said Nabil Ghantous, Executive Vice President of Orascom E&C USA, INC. (Subsidiary of OCL). “With this latest donation, we hope to provide a wide variety of supplies Iowa families can use and enjoy in the years to come.”

These donations will be sold at Goodwill of the Heartland’s 17 retail stores generating support for its mission and creating positive social and economic impact in the communities it serves.  For a complete list of store locations, visit www.goodwillheartland.org

Goodwill of the Heartland relies on donated goods and retail sales to support its mission of helping people move toward greater independence.  Mindy Kayser, Vice President of Marketing for Goodwill of the Heartland, said, “When people donate and when they shop our stores, they create jobs and other opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to independence.”

She added, “We’re happy to see these items being recycled.  When people support Goodwill in this way, they’re also giving new life to old things and diverting useable goods from area landfills.”

Goodwill accepts large donations of furniture and office items, and in certain circumstances, may be able to assist in the transportation of such donations.  Goodwill also accepts donations of used computers and related technology that is working or broken.  Computer items will either be refurbished and sold in Goodwill’s Reboot store in Iowa City or responsibly recycled in partnership with Dell Reconnect.

Goodwill of the Heartland is currently running low and is in need of household item donations such as small electronics and appliances in good working condition, home décor and furnishings and kitchenware.  A list of acceptable donations can be found on the organization’s website.
