DES MOINES, IOWA (December 1, 2020) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced the appointment of Josh Byrnes, currently general manager of the Osage Municipal Utilities, to serve as a Board Member to the Iowa Utilities Board. Byrnes replaces Nick Wagner who had served in that role since 2013 and departed the IUB in July 2020. The appointment is effective December 14, 2020, and is subject to confirmation by the Iowa Senate.
“Josh is a talented, solutions-driven individual who has spent his career serving Iowans,” said Gov Reynolds. “He’s gained invaluable experience from serving in different levels of the utility sector, and now he’s ready to apply that expertise on the Iowa Utilities Board. Josh understands the impact the IUB’s decisions can have on the lives of all Iowans, and I am proud to have him on the team.”

Josh Byrnes previously served six years in the Iowa House of Representatives where he served as the Iowa House Transportation Chairman. He was appointed by Gov Reynolds to serve on the Iowa State Board of Education and he served on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities. Byrnes also was a Board member on American Public Power Associations DEED Board, CUSB Bank Director, and on T&D World Executive Advisory Board. Josh and his wife, Colleen, live in Osage with two children.
The Iowa Utilities Board regulates utilities to ensure that reasonably-priced, reliable, environmentally-responsible, and safe utility services are available to all Iowans.
