(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds sent a letter to President Donald Trump on Thursday thanking him for his continued support of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and urging him to reject proposals designed to weaken or waive “this key pillar of the farm economy.” Four Midwestern governors, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts and South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard, signed on to Gov. Reynolds’ letter.

“The purpose of the RFS is to grow the demand for biofuels while driving the industry to innovate,” Gov. Reynolds said. “Any effort to undermine the RFS, including putting a cap on RINs, would be devastating for Iowa farmers and Iowa’s economy.”

As a champion for Iowa’s agriculture economy, Gov. Reynolds has long been an outspoken proponent of biofuels, along with all renewable fuel sources. She’s also the current chair of the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition.
