Chuck Grassley is the author of the Government Charge Card Abuse Prevention Act, enacted in 2012, that imposed new requirements to improve internal controls in the widely used government purchase card program. Grassley continues to conduct oversight to make sure the new controls are implemented properly, including seeking reviews from the Government Accountability Office (GAO). A new GAO report he co-requested finds that the required purchase card documentation was incomplete in a number of cases. Grassley made the following comment on the report.

“With each report, there’s more progress in ensuring the proper use of purchase cards. Ongoing oversight is necessary to make sure the charge cards are used appropriately and that agencies are following all requirements. I plan to continue to be vigilant about overseeing the implementation of the 2012 law and prior and subsequent requirements. The taxpayers deserve protection from any inappropriate use of purchase cards.”
