MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 7, 2024) — The next Music at Butterworth concert is scheduled for March 20, 7PM, at Butterworth Center, Moline, with a performance by the internationally-known trio Grosse Isle, comprised of Irish uilleann piper Fiachra O’Regan, Quebec fiddler/singer Sophie Lavoie, and guitarist Andre Marchand. Refusing to let an ocean divide their passion for music, these talented artists blend traditional with original compositions from haunting to playful, lively to reflective, leading audiences on an unforgettable journey in song.

The band name Grosse Isle evokes the story of the mass arrival of the Irish in the 19th century on Grosse Isle in the St Lawrence River, as they fled the Great Famine, bringing two cultures together in the pursuit of survival and prosperity. One result has been the fusion of Irish and Quebecois repertoires that celebrates two distinct, but harmonious, styles. Audiences come away from a Grosse Isle concert drawn to both cultures.

All Music at Butterworth free concerts take place in the grand Butterworth Center Library and are followed by complimentary refreshments in the historic dining room. Plenty of parking is located adjacent to Butterworth Center, 1105 8 Street, Moline.
