DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 7, 2023) — Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities invites the public to celebrate the dedication of Habitat homes #128 and #130 this Saturday July 8, 2023, 10AM.

Home N° 128 is located at 647 East 6th Street in Davenport and will be the home of Sarah Ross and family. The sponsors for this home build are City of Davenport-HOME Funds, Quad Cities Housing Council, and St Paul Lutheran Church.

Home N° 130 is just two houses away at 701 East 6th Street, Davenport, and will be the home of Ayi Amavi, Vidjinnagni Tossou, and family. The sponsors for this home build are City of Davenport-HOME Funds, Quad Cities Housing Council, Arconic Foundation, and Scott County Regional Authority.

Habitat is grateful for the help of community volunteers who assisted on these home builds. These two homes took a combined 124 working days to complete over an eleven-month period. Twelve of those days were sponsored build days by local companies, community groups, and churches. In total, 576 volunteers spent 3732 hours working on these two home builds, which is a value to the community of over $111,773.

Habitat’s homeownership program is a long-term solution to the affordable-housing crisis. Habitat partner-families must complete a minimum of 250 volunteer hours of sweat-equity and attend mandatory homeownership preparation classes with the support of a volunteer mentor. When their home build is finished, partner families purchase the home from Habitat with affordable monthly payments on a zero-interest mortgage.
