MOLINE, ILLINOIS (July 28, 2025) — Haven Beauty Collective is proud to announce the launch of a new, community-first business model that centers care, dignity, and accessibility. Beginning August 1, haircuts at this one-chair salon in Uptown Moline, near SouthPark Mall, will be offered through a Pay What You Can pricing structure. No judgment. No explanations required. Just beauty services rooted in empathy, respect, and mutual support.

This initiative wasn’t born out of charity, it was born out of the current moment. A time when human rights, civil liberties, and social programs are not only being questioned, but reshaped in ways that disproportionately affect the most vulnerable. In moments where collectively those served by Nicole have shared how heavy the world is to navigate. "

Haven Beauty Collective recognizes that it will take collective effort to navigate these times, and this model is the salon’s contribution: a chair, a conversation, and a safe place to feel seen, cared for, and whole.

Haven has always been more than just a salon. It is a sanctuary for transformation, confidence, and community. With the introduction of Pay What You Can haircuts, the salon ensures that no one is turned away because of what they can or cannot pay.

As founder Nicole Perkins’ mentor, Sarah Stevens, says: “This is not generosity, it’s justice. And it is not charity, it’s community care.” These words represent the very heartbeat of the initiative.

The model is built on a familiar truth: just like being invited to a cookout with a friend and a dish to pass, communities thrive when everyone brings what they can. When the community does what the community is called to do, there is enough for everyone.

As Perkins explains, “I know I can't save the world, however if this is the one thing I can offer the community I've lived in for the last sixteen years — from the corner of the Quad Cities that I've carved to offer some relief — then that's what I'm going to do.”

While haircut services will be offered on a sliding scale, Haven will continue to provide its full range of premium color and treatment services at standard pricing. This ensures a sustainable business structure while extending access to care in an equitable and empowering way.
