The Illinois Department of Employment Security has enhanced its services at its Rock Island American Job Center office and held an Open House at the facility on Monday.
Director Jeff Mays, IDES Deputy Director Trina Taylor and local dignitaries from the Quad Cities area officially opened the doors at the 500 42nd Street Rock Island office.
As a result of this expansion, IDES will now have an onsite presence which will allow customers to receive services for all programs administered by IDES, including Unemployment Insurance. It’s an opportunity for IDES to work with our partner state agencies and provide essential services to both jobseekers and businesses within the community.
“The office is more accessible to the public and we’ll offer a wider array of services by virtue of expanding the office at the American Job Center,” Mays said. “IDES takes special pride in the relationships we have with our partner agencies in state government and collaborations like this are for the public good. We are proud to enhance these services in Rock Island.”
“The expansion of this American Job Center reaffirms our role as a cornerstone of the public workforce system with the ultimate goal of improving services to employers and increasing employment opportunities for individuals seeking services,” Taylor said.
Speakers included Miranda French, director of constituent services for Congresswoman Cheri Bustos; State Senator Neil Anderson, State Representative Michael Halpin, Rock Island County Board Chairman Kenneth Maranda and Rock Island Mayor Mike Thoms.
IDES encourages employment by connecting employers to jobseekers, provides unemployment insurance benefits to eligible individuals, produces labor market data and protects taxpayers from unemployment insurance fraud.
