MOLINE, ILLINOIS (October 18, 2019) — IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union (IHMVCU) is hosting a free, open-to-the-public Community Shred Day on Saturday, October 26, 9AM–12PM at its headquarters, 2500 River Drive in Moline.

Quad Citians are invited to bring personal documents, up to three boxes, for secure, onsite shredding. A mobile shred unit will be on hand to destroy documents on site. Items with staples and paperclips can also be shredded.

Properly disposing of personal documents is one way for people to protect themselves from identity-theft. The Federal Trade Commission recommends shredding sensitive documents such as charge receipts, old utility bills, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, unused checks, bank statements, and expired charge-cards.

For more information on how to prevent or report identity theft, visit IdentityTheft.gov.
