DES MOINES, IOWA (August 14, 2024) — A nine-mile trail extension will open on August 17 linking the High Trestle and Raccoon River Valley trails, forming a nearly continuous 120-mile paved loop.

Iowa Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Luke Hoffman has been selected by the Racoon River Valley Trail Association to lead a bike ride at 11AM, August 17, starting at the Racoon River Valley Trailhead in Perry, ending with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the trail connection at Bouton Trailhead, 110 E 1st Street, Bouton, Iowa, 1PM.

Joining Exec Dir Hoffman will be Ken Bryan, Senior Strategist for External Relations, Rails to Trails Conservancy; Andrea Bolton, Trails and Community Conservation Director, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation; and Curt Cable, Conservation Director, Dallas County Conservation.
