WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (May 24, 2024) — The Iowa Farm Bureau greatly appreciates the work of US Representatives Zach Nunn and Randy Feenstra on the US House Agriculture to pass the bipartisan farm bill (Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024).

It’s often stated that food security is national security, and a new, modernized farm bill is essential to ensure our food system is secure and provides farmers the tools needed to provide accessible and affordable food. This critical piece of legislation protects crop insurance, strengthens commodity programs, and protects interstate commerce by fixing Prop 12.

It’s encouraging to see movement on the farm bill in the US House and hope to see additional progress and focus on a new modernized farm bill that addresses the many changes and challenges facing agriculture.
