DES MOINES, IOWA (October 13, 2026) — On October 12, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) presented Representative Bill Gustoff of House District 40 with its 2026 Guardian of Small Business Award (Guardian Award).

NFIB’s Guardian Award recognizes leaders who stand up for and advocate on behalf of small businesses.

Rep Gustoff, who is a NFIB member, was selected for the award by a panel of small business owners from across the state.

“Rep Bill Gustoff is a consistent, effective advocate for Iowa's small businesses,” said NFIB Iowa State Director Cody Carlson.

“Main Street businesses are navigating a complex economic environment. Rep Gustoff's unwavering support has given small business owners confidence and certainty that they are well represented in Des Moines."

Gustoff received a 100% voting record from NFIB during the 2025-2026 legislative session. Members of the NFIB Iowa Leadership Council, comprised of small business owners from across the state, selected him to receive this prestigious small business award due to his strong record of standing up for Iowa small businesses.

For over eighty years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington DC and in all fifty state capitals. NFIB is non-profit, non-partisan, and member-driven. Since our founding in 1943, NFIB has been exclusively dedicated to small and independent businesses, and remains so today.
