CORALVILLE, IOWA (February 11, 2019) — The Iowa Women’s Foundation (IWF), with support from its Board of Directors and supporters, is now accepting applications for its 2020 grants. Deadline dates for application submission and review have changed from previous years. All applications are due at 5:00 p.m. April 30, 2019.

Economic self-sufficiency for all of Iowa’s women and girls is central to the mission of the Iowa Women’s Foundation and to our grants program. To be eligible, proposed projects must focus primarily on serving the needs and aspirations of women and girls. To this end, six specific areas have been identified as the most critical barriers for Iowa women and girls, and all grant applications must address one of these barriers. These barriers include: employment, child care, housing, education/training, transportation, mentorship. An RFP is available online at https://iawf.org/core-grants/

“2019 is the 25th anniversary of the Foundation. Since the first grants were made in 1996, IWF has awarded over $870,000 to more than 200 programs benefiting thousands of women and girls in all 99 Iowa counties. The work continues with a commitment to sustaining programs that invest in the economic self-sufficiency of the women of Iowa, and by doing so we significantly improve the status of our families, our communities and the Iowa economy,” said Dawn Oliver Wiand, Executive Director of Iowa Women’s Foundation.

In order to be considered for a grant, non-profit organizations must complete an application. IWF invites interested applicants to learn more about our statewide grant-making process. An information session will be held in Coralville, Iowa on March 14. An overview of IWF and its grant making policies will be provided to give applicants assistance on how to prepare a competitive application. This session will be available by electronic conferencing/Zoom for those not able to attend in person. RSVP to grants@iawf.org for further details. Mentors are also available to provide guidance for a successful application. To request a mentor, email grants@iawf.org by March 4. In the subject line write “Mentor Inquiry”.

The Iowa Women’s Foundation is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization, committed to improving the lives of Iowa’s women and girls through a diversified mix of funding and action: research, grant-making, advocacy, education and collaboration. To achieve its goals and make the most significant impact, IWF brings together and invests in organizations across Iowa that make women and girls more successful. IWF is the only state-wide organization working to enhance and improve women’s economic self-sufficiency.
