DES MOINES, IOWAA (July 23, 2019) — The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Kelsey Bumsted of Solon as an Iowan of the Day for the 2019 Iowa State Fair.

Kelsey is an exemplary role model and prominent leader in her small town of Solon, Iowa who endlessly volunteers for the betterment of her community and its residents. Kelsey is "ALL IN" for Solon Community Schools and has served in many different capacities from PTO treasurer, or working at the book fair, to volunteering as a resource for Kindergarten round up, all for the success of Solon Community School District.

In addition to her support of the school, Kelsey is known for her work and efforts for making Solon a better place to live. She is active within the community by serving on the Parks and Recreation Board. In doing so, she has been instrumental in breaking ground for Solon's new Splash Pad and Batting Cages. As a member of the board, she has also been hands-on with the opening of Solon's Community Center.

Kelsey's day of recognition will be Monday, August 12 at the 2019 Iowa State Fair. She will be recognized with a presentation on the Anne and Bill Riley stage at 2PM. Along with accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, she will receive a gift bag, Grandstand tickets, use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart, a cash prize, Iowa State Fair admission tickets, and VIP parking.

Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day program allows the Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize Iowa's most outstanding individuals. The program continues to honor Iowans across the state who have made a difference in the lives of others, while upholding the characteristics associated with Iowa- dependability, integrity, hard work and sense of community.
