CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (June 19, 2025) — The Goodwill Store in Keokuk, Iowa is celebrating a decade of community impact through thrift, savings and service. The ten-year anniversary celebration will run through Saturday, June 28, but the main event takes place on Thursday, June 26 — the store’s official anniversary date.

Festivities on Thursday feature special guest food vendors and free in-store popcorn, making it the perfect day to snack while you shop.

Food vendors include:

Ophelia Caribbean — Serving up grilled three bones, hamburgers, jerk chicken, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, and regular potatoes.

Taste Buds — Offering meat nachos, mac and cheese bowls, baked beans, and a variety of sandwiches (brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and Buffalo chicken).

Beverages also will be available for purchase from vendors.

Throughout the celebration customers will enjoy fun in-store activities, including treasure hunts, special giveaways, and manager specials. Whether you’re a long-time thrifter or first-time shopper, there’s something for everyone.

A member of Goodwill’s Mission Services team will be on-site June 26 to share information about the free career-building resources available through the Helms Career Center, located inside the Keokuk store. The center offers digital literacy training, job search assistance and career coaching. Over the past year, it has served 67 people, helping them prepare for a first job, a promotion, or transition to a new industry.

“The heart of this store has always been our connection to the local community,” said Store Manager Jessica Keller.

“From generous donors who visit us each day to team members who show up ready to serve, we are so proud of what we’ve built together over the past ten years.”

Each month, the Keokuk Goodwill Store welcomes approximately 1,000 donors and, in the past year alone, has processed more than 925,000 pounds of donated goods. The store is also a local employer, currently providing jobs for seventeen team members.

“This anniversary is more than a celebration – it’s a thank you,” said Regional Manager Sabrina Buras. “The Keokuk community has supported this store from day one, and every donation, every purchase, every visit has helped change lives through job training and employment opportunities.”
