DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 21, 2020) — The Scott County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is partnering with the City of Buffalo and the City of Davenport to host a Leap into Flood Preparation event for property owners typically impacted by flooding in Scott County and surrounding areas in Iowa and Illinois.

The National Weather Service issued its forecasted probability graphs, which indicate a 35% chance of reaching record levels on the Mississippi River at the Rock Island and Le Claire river gauges. In preparation for what may be higher than normal spring flooding, the event will help property owners understand their flood risk and available resources in the community.

Saturday, February 29, 2020 9AM-2PM, Modern Woodmen Park 209 S. Gaines Street, Davenport, Iowa.

Attendees will be offered a wide variety of ideas, tools, and general information to help prepare before flooding occurs. Topics will include:

  • Corps of Engineers Sandbag Demonstration
  • American Red Cross
  • Other Disaster Services

  • “IMMERSED” Flood Virtual Reality Simulator Presented by FEMA
