Meet "Tony" from the
1961 Westside Story and "Benjamin
Horn" from Twin Peaks during the
Images of India: 2 Films, Cocktails & Conversation event at the Figge
(DAVENPORT, IA.-August 4, 2008) Participants will get to interact with Richard Beymer who played "Tony" in the movie Westside Story (1961) and "Benjamin Horn" in Twin Peaks, during the "Images of India" film event at Figge Art Museum on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. As a filmmaker, Beymer has enjoyed successes including his award-winning documentary A Regular Bouquet: Mississippi Summer.
During "Images of India" his films Between Two Rivers and Shivaratri will be shown.
The Iowa Source describes Beymer`s Shivaratri as "...sights of India, candid shots of the remarkable festivities, of faces, the sounds, life along the Ganges, the whole rich tapestry of the event come alive before your eyes... Almost a meditative piece but alive in richness of spirit."
Starting at 6:30 p.m., participants will enjoy complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by the viewing of the two films in Figge`s auditorium. After the films, participants will enjoy cocktails and conversation with Beymer. Tickets to the "Images of India" event are $20 each.
For an enhanced experience, visitors may want to take Figge`s guided tour of the "When Gold Blossoms: Indian Jewelry from the Susan L. Beningson Collection" on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Figge. This exhibition features 150 objects of South Indian jewelry from the 17th through 19th centuries. The guided tour is free with general admission ($7.00 adults; $6.00 seniors (60 and older)/students with ID's; $4.00 children ages 3-12; FREE to members).
