The blues society says the aim of the contest is to engage teens in the field of art and design by tapping into their creativity and love of music. The Mississippi Valley Blues Society is reaching out to high school students in six counties, Rock Island, Henry, Mercer, Scott, Clinton and Muscatine, and is hoping to receive many submissions.
The Top 5 poster designs selected will be displayed in the Figge Art Museum and there will be a reception at the art museum for the artists and their families on Feb. 8th, when the winner will be announced.
The student whose design is selected will receive a gift certificate for art supplies, a scholarship to a Figge Art Museum art class, tickets to the 2018 blues festival, and posters, t-shirts & other merchandise created with their art design. Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th place artists. The limited-edition 2018 festival logo merchandise will be available at the 2018 Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, July 6th & 7th, in LeClaire Park, Davenport Iowa.
Submissions for the contest are due by Tuesday, Jan. 30th, 2018.
