SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA (May 18, 2026) — On Monday May 18, at approximately 3:44PM. the Scott Emergency Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus and pick-up truck.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Initial investigation found that a North Scott School District school bus carrying the bus driver and two students was east bound on 270th street. The school bus failed to yield when it entered the intersection of 270th Street and 60th Ave.

The school bus was struck by a 2006 GMC Sierra pick-up truck that was traveling North on 60th Ave. Both the bus and the pick-up truck came to rest in the north-east ditch of the intersection.

The drivers of the school bus and pick-up truck were transported by Medic EMS to Mercy One Genesis Hospital. The students were treated and released on scene.

The investigation is on-going and charges are pending. Names are being withheld until the completion of the investigation.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by SECC, Medic EMS, and Dixon Fire Department.
