CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (July 21, 2023) — Goodwill of the Heartland is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated grand opening of its newest thrift store in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. The store, located at 700 N Grand Ave, officially opens its doors to the public at 9AM on August 4, becoming the organization’s nineteenth retail location. This marks a significant milestone for Goodwill as it expands its presence into the Mount Pleasant community, bringing with it a wide array of high-quality, affordable items, and valuable workforce-development opportunities.

The grand opening event promises to be a festive occasion, with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9AM, followed by a day filled with family-friendly shopping and activities. Shoppers can look forward to special promotions, including giveaways of Goodwill promotional items.

The Mount Pleasant Goodwill Store offers a treasure trove of gently used clothing, household items, electronics, books, and much more, all at everyday affordable prices. By shopping at Goodwill, community members not only find great bargains but also contribute to a sustainable shopping experience, as the organization is committed to recycling and repurposing goods.

Donations and purchases at the Mount Pleasant store contribute to Goodwill of the Heartland’s mission to help people reach their full potential through education, training and the power of work. In fact, 87 cents of every dollar is reinvested in the communities Goodwill serves through no-cost job training, professional certification, community-based job coaching, and more.
