BETTENDORF, IOWA (April 17, 2026) — For more than 45 years, NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley has provided education, support, and advocacy to help individuals and families living with mental-health conditions and build resilience across the region. Serving more than 10,000 individuals annually, the organization is proud to announce the appointment of Brooke Hendrickx as its new Director of Development.

Hendrickx brings extensive experience in non-profit leadership, fundraising, and community engagement.

She previously served in leadership roles at EveryChild, where she helped strengthen development efforts, expand community awareness, and support organizational growth.

In her new role, Hendrickx will help lead fundraising and development strategies for NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley, focusing on growing philanthropic support, deepening donor engagement, and advancing the organization’s mission.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brooke to our team,” said Mark Mathews, Executive Director.

“Her experience and commitment to this work will help us continue to expand our impact and reach more individuals and families across the region.”

“Mental health touches every family,” said Hendrickx. “I’m honored to join NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley and to contribute to this work — helping ensure people in our community feel supported and know they are not alone.”

As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness and reduce stigma, NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley will celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month this May through a variety of community initiatives and partnerships. In Muscatine, Big Energy will feature a special menu throughout the month, with a portion of proceeds benefiting NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley and supporting its local programs and services.

A community training will also be held on April 30 in collaboration with Muscatine County Public Health and Make It Ok: Muscatine, focused on the impacts of today’s marijuana.

In addition, the organization is gearing up for its annual NAMIWalks event, a signature fundraiser that brings the community together in support of mental health. This year’s walk will take place on October 10 at Veteran’s Park in Bettendorf, and team and individual registration is now open. Proceeds from NAMIWalks stay local, directly supporting NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley’s programs and services for individuals and families in the region. Community members are encouraged to sign up, form teams, and take part in raising awareness and funds. To register, please visit www.NAMIWalks.org/greatermississippivalley
