Davenport, IA (April 28, 2017, 6 to 9 p.m.) Join native Rock Island artist Mark Cook as he returns to the Quad Cities to display his latest paintings in the Beréskin Fine Art Gallery and Studio from April 26th to May 22nd. Mark Cook attributes his early art education to supportive parents and very good public school art teachers from elementary through high school. As a boy, he would visit local artists in their home studios to learn tricks of the trade. Later his dad took him to the Wilson and Lund advertising agency where he was encouraged to study at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Mark has fond memories of spending almost all of his money on art supplies at Major's Art and Hobby and a local paint and wallpaper store that had a small art section.

He received a talent tuition waiver to attend the University of Illinois based on the portfolio that teachers helped him to create. Ultimately, he chose to leave the university to train at the American Academy of art in Chicago. After graduating he began a thirty-year career as an illustrator, designer and fine artist. "Mark's has a fresh approach to illustrating the Midwest through his distinctive mark making and use of color infusion," says Pat Beréskin owner of Beréskin Gallery, "He has a way of transporting you into his paintings. He has incorporated his unique style to create stunning landscapes and a local bridge series for his exhibit."

An opening reception will be held on April 28, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. during Bucktown Center for the Art's monthly Final Friday event. A  "Wine Walk" with hand painted painted glasses is set for the evening. With the purchase of a wine glass, the buyer will receive tickets to taste a variety of new wines throughout the Bucktown galleries.
