Trio of authors announce publication of ‘Mental Download’

RIO DE JANEIRO — The new self-help book for teens, “Mental Download: Programming Your Own Mind” (published by Balboa Press), by Marcia Regina de Avellar Fonseca, Roberta de Oliveira Ribeiro and Ruth Helena Oliveira de Souza teaches teenagers how to “program their mind.”

The book makes an analogy between the mind and a computer and between one’s mental patterns and programs that are “installed.” “Mental Download” declares that if someone “downloads positive programs” through positive thoughts, feelings and actions, their lives will be full of meaning, with good things coming to them, leading them to feel motivated and happy. Conversely, if people “download negative programming” through negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors, they will feel bad about themselves, others, and life. The book also offers a step-by-step on how to “deinstall the negative programming and how to install a whole new positive programming.”

“People are becoming increasingly disconnected from themselves, from their own lives and from each other, blaming everything and everyone for what happens to them,” the authors say. “Our book provides very simple and useful tools for them to look into themselves in order to identify the beliefs and mental/behavioral patterns they sustain and that do not contribute to building a happy and fulfilling life. Once they identify these patterns, they can choose to have healthier beliefs and behaviors and, therefore, healthier, happier lives.”
