COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (September 10, 2025) — We want to show our appreciation to our local heroes, including police officers, firefighters, health-care workers, paramedics, as well as active and veteran military personnel by offering FREE Zoo admission with an ID showing your employment or status. Help us show our thanks to them for serving your communities, neighbors, family, and friends throughout the Quad Cities and our country.

To honor our local heroes, we have invited a number of SUPERHEROES to join us at the Zoo. You can come dressed as your favorite hero (local or super) and get your picture taken with our SUPER friends, 10AM-2PM.

Event Details:

  • Capture memories with characters between 10AM and 2PM.
  • See over 600 animals from around the world, including our adorable River Otters: niabizoo.com/animals-habitats/.
  • Plus, ride the train and dive into hands-on animal feeding experiences: niabizoo.com/experiences/.
  • Costumes are encouraged.
