Garbage: All solid waste collection will be one day late for all residents with Thursday and Friday collection dates due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Thursday’s collection will be on Friday, November 24th and Friday’s collection will be on Saturday, November 25th.

Residents may also place up to three extra bags of garbage outside of their cart without an extra garbage sticker on their collection day between Friday, November 24th and Wednesday, November 29th.

Yard Waste: The City is extending No Sticker Yard Waste Weeks through Friday, December 1st. After that date an Earth Cycle Yard Waste sticker is required on all yard waste bags placed for curbside collection.

Residents may also dispose of their loose or bagged yard wastes and brush for free by dropping it off at our Compost Facility through December 1st. After December 1st, disposal rates apply. The facility’s summer hours end Thursday, November 30th; winter hours begin Friday, December 1st. The Compost Facility will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday November 24th in observation of the holiday. For directions, hours, and other information, visit www.cityofdavenportiowa.com/compost.

Recycling: The holidays can generate a lot of extra waste. As you celebrate the holiday, or do a little shopping – remember to celebrate and conserve our natural resources by recycling what you can.

Common holiday wastes such as: boxes from electronics, toys, shoes and shirts; empty wrapping paper tubes; gift/shopping bags made of paper; tissue paper; greeting cards & envelopes (even photo cards); newspapers, magazines & catalogs; steel cans; pie plates and clean aluminum foil; and even popcorn and cookie tins can all be recycled, just to name a few. Not sure where it goes? Visit www.cityofdavenportiowa.com/solidwaste and use the ReCollect tool to find out.
