On April 25 th 2018 at approximately 9:35 am a disturbance was reported outside of the front main entrance to the Scott County Courthouse. Two bailiffs from within the courthouse and a Davenport Police Officer responded. Upon arrival they encountered a subject carrying a blunt object. The situation escalated and in the process a less lethal device and a firearm were discharged by bailiffs. A short foot pursuit followed and the subject was taken into custody at West 6th Street and Western Avenue. The subject and a bailiff were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and evaluation.

The investigation is being turned over to the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) with the assistance of the Davenport Police Department. All further updates on the investigation will come from those agencies. The bailiff who discharged the firearm is being placed on administrative leave, per policy, pending the results of the investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
