MOLINE, ILLINOIS (August 3, 2020) — For 17 years, Midwest Hope and Healing offered encouragement and comfort to more than 3,800 breast cancer patients with the distribution of their signature healing baskets. Through the generosity of donors, Midwest Hope and Healing established a grantmaking fund at The Moline Foundation to continue their legacy of caring for those newly-diagnosed.

In their second year of offering grants to local non-profits and faith-based organizations, Midwest Hope and Healing is honored to award financial support to:

  • The Arc of the Quad Cities Area;
  • Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities;
  • CPC Pregnancy Resources (formerly Crisis Pregnancy);
  • Gilda's Club Quad Cities; and
  • Genesis Illini Foundation.

“These organizations, while facing on-going challenges during this pandemic crisis, continue to look for ways to provide necessary services to the QCA. We are honored to be able to help them do just that,” exclaimed Colleen Borts, Founder/Midwest Hope and Healing.

A grant recipient’s response explains the difference the award makes to their clients. "Our voucher program removes financial barriers, so women receive critical screenings and peace of mind. It's especially important now when many individuals are facing financial hardships due to COVID-19, " stated Missy Gowey, Executive Director, Genesis Health Services Foundation.

"We are simply thrilled to receive this grant award from the Midwest Hope & Healing Fund through The Moline Foundation," adds Diane Koster, Women's Health Grant Specialist, Genesis Health System. "We deeply appreciate the generosity of the women who started this fund and who know first-hand the devastation of a breast-cancer diagnosis. Early detection is key to decreasing deaths from breast cancer, so thank you for helping us save lives."
