Up with People is Coming!~Multi-cultural organization is bringing cast of 110 young peopleFrom 27 countries to Maquoketa ~Local families needed as hosts to international ambassadors WHO              Up with People, the international global education program for young adults, is coming to Maquoketa.  While giving to communities through its community impact activities and show, the program also addresses the need to help young adults gain a global perspective, intercultural understanding, knowledge of worldwide issues, leadership skills and a sense of social responsibility. WHAT            The cast members live with local families wherever they travel as part of the cultural immersion for which the group is known.  For their stay in Maquoketa, Up with People needs families that are able to provide a bed, some meals and transportation for their week-long stay. The participants will be involved in community impact days and service learning during their visit.  The students will also be performing the "Up with People Show", a community celebration that features original and international songs and uses the universal languages of music and dance to inspire, energize and educate. WHEN            Up with People will be in Maquoketa from Thursday, February 14 to Monday, February 18. The "Up with People Show" will be on Sunday, February 17 at The Ohnward Fine Arts Center at 3pm.  HOW              If you're interested in becoming a host family, contact Ryan Watterson, Up with People Community Relations Coordinator, at 262-442-6721. Tickets for the "Up with People Show" can be purchased at the Maquoketa Chamber of Commerce for $12 (adults) or $8 (students).  WHY               Up with People provides young adults an international and intercultural experience that teaches servant leadership and uses the performing arts to deliver messages of hope and goodwill throughout the world.  Up with People exists today to spark people to action in meeting the needs of their communities, countries and the world while building bridges of understanding as a foundation for world peace.
