Quad City Arts Art @ the Airport presents artwork by Linda Buechting, Paul Nitsche, and Corrine Smith for the months of January and February 2019
Linda Buechting presents a series of watercolors on the theme “American Appetite: Burgers to Bling.” Buechting juxtaposes images of fruit and plants, labeled with the proper Latin name, next to a candy bar or other junk food with a fake Latin name and description. Her photorealistic paintings are humorous and whimsical.
Paul Nitsche relies on classical formalities of anatomical exploration, and the reliquary effigy to pair themes of illness/growth, beauty/decay, dream/time in his sculptures. His sculptures are made from bronze, bones, glass and other materials.
Corrine Smith explores the formal elements and principals of design through painting to create nonrepresentational art. Complex layers of acrylic paint, handmade papers and mono prints create compositions full of dimension, expression, texture and pattern.
Art @ the Airport in The Quad City International airport gallery is easy to find-just across from the gift shop and restaurant and before the security check-point. It never closes, and you’ll pay just a dollar for parking.
